Loving the Zzzzz's

Since day one I have been very persistent with trying to establish a routine for Lily. When she came home from the hospital I made sure there was a distinguishable difference between night and day. I made sure day was bright and made sure that no one whispered and let the dogs bark if they wanted. Then I would make sure that during the night everything stayed dark, no noise, and the dogs are silent. That was a big help in getting a routine in place. For the first few weeks, since she slept so much, her "bed time" was 11 o'clock. The next few weeks we moved it up to 10 o'clock. Now for the past 3 weeks we've been making bed time between 9 - 9:30. She usually wakes up between 3 - 4 am to feed, but then goes down again and we wake up for the day between 7 - 8 am. It's so nice having a schedule. I was so afraid when I was pregnant that I would be sleep deprived. I think that because that was one of my big concerns, I was super determined to make sure we got a good NIGHT'S rest. Lily gets 10 - 11 hours of sleep a night and I get my 7 - 8 hours, which leaves me with a few hours "baby-free" in the evening. It's the best, it keeps me happy and rested and HAPPY MOMMA = HAPPY BABY! Along with her bed time routine she has always slept in her own "bed". Up until a few weeks ago she was sleeping in her "pack n play", but for the last few weeks she's been sleeping in her crib. Lily has her moments, but I thank my lucky stars EVERYDAY that she's such an easy little girl! If I could give anyone any advice it would be to stick to a routine, they get the hang of it in no time!

Lily Making a Poopie

One day she'll kill me for this...

Aaahhh-Goooo

Lily is so vocal these days. Always up for having a conversation with anyone who will listen. She's adorable, she puckers her lips and lets out a string of "aahh-goo"s and "coo"s and just plain "ooo"s. She also lets out some squeaks and squeals. I love it! I ask her about her day and what she was dreaming during her naps and what she wants to do and I swear she's answering me. She's absolutely a cutie pie! She's also developing a lot of leg strength and back/neck strength. The other day when I put her to sleep (on her tummy) she woke up on her back! I'm sure it's a lot harder to get from her back to her tummy though. She also really surprised me the other night, I laid her down with her head at the 12 o'clock position and then by morning she was at the 3 o'clock position! Also she holds her head up really well in her bumbo and when she's on her tummy, like she's doing a cobra pose.

I ordered her Halloween costume pretty early so that I could make sure to get it on time and it came it. It's so cute :o) She's going to be a flower. That's a picture of the costume but it's obviously not her. She's not able to sit up on her own, but hopefully we can prop her upright for pictures. I'm going to get her pictures (3months) taken in her costume and hopefully be able to send out Halloween cards by early October. I also received her Baptism dress too. Therese ordered it from Pottery Barn Kids and it's gorgeous.

OOOHHH also, we've established a great sleep schedule! It's so nice!!! I bathe her at 8:30, feed her, and put her to bed by 9:30. She sleeps pretty much all night until about 7:30am. She currently only has one feeding, and it's always at around 3:30 or 4:00. I'm hoping to keep bed time at 9:30 for the next 3 weeks then start moving it up to 8:30. I usually go to bed at around 11:00 so that hour and a half to myself at night is such a nice little break. I can read a book or watch tv...just unwind. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "THANK GOD FOR EASY BABIES!"

Lily in her swing

I hadn't posted a video in a while. This is Lily in her swing. She likes it for like 15-20 minutes at a time and then she's over it! Bella is in the video too, she is obsessed with Lily! I swear she thinks she's her baby. Enjoy! (ignore my obnoxious baby talk!)

Lily's 2 Month Doctor's Visit

Lily turned 2 months on Monday! I can hardly believe how big she's getting. I took her to the doctor for her 2 month vaccines. They weighed her and she's 12lbs. 1 oz. and she's 22.25 inches (compared to the 7lbs. 8oz. and 19 inches when she was born!). The doctor said that she is normal for her length and ABOVE normal for weight. Looks like momma's milk is doing it's job ;o) I asked the doctor if it was ok and what it means to be "above normal", he said it was fine and that she's just one pound over the average and that all it means is that I have a "gordita", hahaha...my little gordita!

After weigh in she got her immunizations, 3 shots and one oral. It was so heartbreaking! She was happy as a clam when they were giving her the oral one, I'm guessing it was sweet. She was all smiles, being her usual cute self, and then BAM!!! the nurse stabbed the needle into her thigh (I'm being dramatic). She got 2 in one leg and honestly those weren't that bad. She did cry, but got over it right away. It was the final one that must have really hurt...even I cried! She did the silent cry for like 5 whole seconds then let out the loudest scream and then a cry. She cried for a while afterwards too. That's when I cried. Once she got over it she was back to her normal self. She never got a fever and slept like she usually does.

In other news, I scheduled her baptism! Lily will be baptized early in October. No details on the web since the page is public and I don't want any creeper/kidnappers showing up! Invitations will be sent out ASAP. I honestly don't know when I would have gotten around to it if my friend Jill hadn't done it. When she told me Braden was being baptized and that they did 6 per mass I thought it would be nice for us to do it together. Jill and I were pregnant together and our babies are exactly one week apart. We picked Benny and Therese as god parents. Therese, Benny, Adam, and I will be attending classes in September to prepare us for the Baptism. I'm really excited about this! There are a lot of people who haven't gotten a chance to see/meet Lily and this will be a great opportunity. She truly is such a blessing, I want everyone to have the "Lily Experience"!

Lily's 8 weeks!

Lily is 8 weeks old (she'll be 2 months on the 17th). I can hardly believe so much time has passed from the day I had her! She's so much more alert and she's engaging more. She recognizes faces/voices...well I think she does because she smiles when she hears or sees us. She's loving bath time and she's sleeping really well. For the past 5 weeks she's been sleeping on her tummy, which I know is not recommended, but she loves to sleep that way. It's the only way she'll sleep longer than 2 hours! I'm totally in love with her and all her little quirks. She has the cutest little side ways smile and a dimple in her right cheek that is so adorable. Her neck control is amazing! She's also discovered her hands! She can't keep them out of her mouth!!! She's going in for her 2 month shots next week. I'm a little nervous, but I hear it's not too bad. I think I'm more nervous for me than I am for her! I hate to see her cry :o( Here are some pictures of my little Lilykins :o)

In the last picture she's wearing the first thing I bought when I found out it was a girl :o) I already bought her halloween costume, she's going to be a FLOWER (because she's Lily) She's going to get her 3 month portraits taken in her costume so that I can send out cute Halloween cards! Also in September my mom, grandmother, Lily, and I are going to take 4 generation pictures. Those should be really nice. I hope to update this blog more frequently! Babies are so time consuming!
