This is how we know it's a girl...

Here is a close up and the original picture of Lily's gender. The 3 lines mean girl (where the finger is pointing). Also called "the hamburger" in ultrasound tech lingo. The picture is of her butt and thighs from the bottom, like she's sitting and we're looking from underneath. The thick white line under the pointer is her femur. She's already SUPER SPOILED! Everyone is buying her clothes and goodies galore!

Busy, Busy, BUSY

It's been a pretty busy Sunday for me and Lily.  I woke up early (ok, not that early...it was 11) and went to target, home depot, and hobby lobby (which was closed, ANNOYING!).  I decided today was the day to organize the nursery closet.  WHAT A HUGE MESS!!!!  I got a huge garage sale pile, garbage pile, and attic pile.  When I was at Target I bought a bookshelf to put all the children's books I had accumulated when I was a preschool teacher (in college).  I'm so proud of the way the room is coming along.
I registered for the nursery decor at landofnod.com.  I'm doing the nursery in a "doll" theme.  I didn't really want a theme, but I picked nursery bedding that is a quilt with doll dresses.  When I told my mom that I had picked the doll dress bedding she brought me the dolls she had bought when she was pregnant with me.  She had these dolls on layaway when she was pregnant  (she didn't even know if i was for sure a girl).  It's crazy that the dolls my mom bought for me are also going in my daughter's nursery.  Those dolls are 27 years old!  They are cloth so I don't think they're too creepy :o) I thought it all just fell together nicely.  The dolls are going to go on a shelf above the closet.

A picture

Here's a picture of Lily. I have a few from earlier, but I feel like this is the first one where we can see her little face. She's about 5.5' long. I'm still not really "showing", if you saw me and DIDN'T know I was pregnant, you wouldn't know I was pregnant. I guess I'm only showing to my friends and family. My jeans no longer button! I'm dying to feel her move :oP Soon I hope! I'm thinking I'll take my "side view" picture when I'm 5 months...so in like 2 weeks. Crazy!

P.S. The picture is a picture of a picture taken with my phone, so sorry about the quality. If you can't make her out just pretend, ok? ;o)

A Little Arts & Crafts Project

So today I decided to work on a project for the baby.  It always lifts my spirits :o)  Since it's a girl and we've decided to name her Lily (Marie), I decided to go to Hobby Lobby and buy the letters to spell her name.  I got them in cardboard and I also got some scrapbook paper to decorate them with.  I cut up the scrapbook paper into squares and I glued them on the letters and then I modge-podged them on (aka decoupaged).  I also got some wood cut outs of flowers and bugs and glued those on too.  Over all I think it was a pretty cute outcome.

I'm part of an online group called June 2009 on BabyCenter.com.  In the group women can post bulletins and ask for advice...the usual.  Anyway this woman posted a cover from LIFE magazine that is of a live 18 week old fetus in the womb.  I thought it was really cool.  I'm 17 weeks right now and this picture gives me a visual of what Lily looks like.  I love her so much already.  Hope you all have a good weekend.

The Nursery (SO FAR)...

Below are some pictures of the nursery so far.  We've just basically put the furniture in the room, no decor yet.  I bought a couple of little outfits for a girl, they're in the armoire...i kept the receipts just in case, although I'm pretty sure it's a girl :o)

Another Doctor's Visit

Adam and I went in to the doctor's office today for another visit.  This time it was for my AFP screening (aka triple screen).  It's a blood test to see if the baby is at risk for downs syndrome, spina bifida, chromosomal abnormalities, and/or defects in the abdominal wall of the baby.  Usually the woman who does the blood work is awesome, but it really hurt today...i think she was in a bad mood!  Anyway, I'll know in 1  - 2 weeks if there is anything wrong.  Honestly I hadn't even considered that there would be anything wrong with the baby, but now that I'm waiting on results it feels like its going to be forever until I find out.  We also heard the heartbeat, 147 beats per minute.

I gained another 2 lbs...that's 4 lbs total so far.  Four months pregnant and 4 lbs. gained...I'm sure I'll be packing on the pounds soon enough, now that I feel MUCH better.  I try not to get too out of control on my eating though.  I have a list of 4 items I will try my hardest NOT to eat while I'm pregnant.
     1.  Corn dogs and tater tots
     2.  Fried Chicken
     3.  Funyuns
     4.  A yummy frozen starbucks concoction
I know all of these things are fine once in a while, but I don't trust myself.  If I eat it once I know I'll want it ALL THE TIME!  For example, the other day I bought a bag of Funyuns (before Funyuns were on my list) and I ate the WHOLE B AG IN ONE SITTING!!!!  The entire bag, and not snack size or even big grab...it was the kind of bag that should last a while, with multiple servings.  Anyway, that's when I realized I have no will power!  So I made my list of other things that make me feel the way Funyuns do...powerless :oP

So, we're about 90% sure it's a girl.  I did my own ultrasound and it looks like a girl, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing what I want to see or if it really is a girl...I need SOMEONE ELSE to tell me so that I'll believe it.  I still went out and bought two super cute little outfits :o)  We're also settled on a girl name...Lily Marie.  No suggestions will be accepted anymore :o)  You just have to love it (even if you don't).

My next appointment is 2/9/09.  I'm sure i'll post again between now and then.

My Latest Appointment

This past Monday was my most recent appointment. It wasn't too eventful, just talking with the doctor about my feelings and a quick ultrasound. The ultrasound looked like a girl, but it is still a little too early to tell. My next appointment is in 2 weeks. Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have gained a total of 2 lbs. They usually say 3 - 5 lbs. is where you want to be, but I'm guessing the fact that i was so sick had to do with the minimal weight gain. I'm sure I'll make up for it through out the pregnancy.

Wednesday we got the nursery all set up. My mom, Therese, and I built the crib and put up the light fixtures (Adam works A LOT). We had some help getting the furniture in place and now it looks sooooo good. The dogs were crazy and so curious! I'm pretty sure Bella thinks the crib is for her!

Anyway, my symptoms have subsided and I feel normal again! I started to feel much better at the start of week 14, but today marks week 15 and I can comfortably say that it is NOT a fluke, that I do feel better and I won't go back to being sick. Thank god. Speaking of God, I think this Sunday I'm going to start going to church...for me and the baby. Pretty sure that with Adam's work schedule, he's not going to want to wake up early on Sunday, but I think it's important so I'm going to go.

I'll post more after my next appointment on 1/12/09.
