LIly @ 30 Weeks

I posted a video of Lily at 30 weeks. It's not until after a minute that she does anything. She smiled a little, it's so cute :o) She's so freakin' adorable...I can hardly wait to meet her.

Doctor's Appointment Today

I had a doctor's appointment today, the first one in April.  It went well, it was just a basic check up.  I know this is going to sound weird, but I always imagined (before I was pregnant) that the doctor would check you "down there" every time.  Surprisingly enough, he's only checked once.  Sorry I'm sure that's TMI, but just had to share.  They do however, always check the baby's heart rate.  The beating sound is always music to my ears :o)  It's Lily saying "hey mom, I'm in here!".  So, in all I've gained 11.5 lbs, my blood pressure is normal, AND my blood sugar has been so good that the doctor said I can go down to testing every other day.  I think I'll keep testing daily though,  I think it helps me stay on top of my weight gain and Lily's weight gain.  I talked to the doctor again about NOT wanting to be induced.  Last time I told him "no matter what I say later I don't want to be induced".  I only say that because as women get more uncomfortable they sometimes ask to be induced one or two weeks early AND when women have GD they usually induce two weeks early to make sure the baby hasn't gotten too big.  I just want Lily to come into the world on her terms, so I'm going to do what I can to make sure it's her choice when she's delivered.  The doctor said as long and my GD stays under control he wont have to induce (so I really am going to stick to what I'm doing).  I think as long as I don't get put on insulin I'll be fine.

The nurse today said to me, "good job taking care of your belly"(no stretch marks...yet...YAY!).  That got me thinking, I really do make it a point to take care of my belly.  It all started New Years 2007 when I made the first resolution I've ever kept.  It was an easy one...moisturize my elbows every day.  With in months I became a moisturizing fool.  I moisturized my whole body twice a day every day.  By the end of the year I was using 4 different moisturizers and my routine was about 20 minutes long (This is still my routine).  It's almost like meditation time. After the nurse said that and I got to thinking about it I realized, once Lily is here I'm not going to be able to take my two 20 minute showers and then moisturize for another 20 minutes after my showers.  I wont lie, I'm kinda sad about it, I realize it wont be FOREVER though.  There will be a day when I can moisturize for 20 minutes again, but I'm making a promise to myself to AT LEAST moisturize my elbows everyday.  Not to mention I'm sure once Lily is here, moisturizing will be the last thing on my mind LOL!

Gorgeous Baby Lily!!!

The best time to get your 3D/4D ultrasound is 28 - 32 weeks...well yesterday I turned 28 weeks so I took a peek at Baby Lily (again) and she's super duper cute! I did the ultrasound on myself so the pictures could have been a lot clearer if I had had help, but it's ok you can still see her really well. She even gave me a little smile :o) I love her so much already!

I know her nose looks a little big, but that is to be expected...I'm applying pressure to the face, and also babies faces "grow into" their noses. I have complete confidence that she'll have a button nose...she could have NO nose and I'd still think she was the cutest thing to ever exist!

So, Lily is not the only one who is 28 weeks...I AM! I took a picture of myself in my maxi dress and my wedges. It was before dinner with a girlfriend, I was dressed up, so I figured PICTURE TIME! We went to dinner and then to get a cup of tea after. The lady at the counter first asked "how far along are you?" I answered "I'm 7 months" (most people don't get the 'weeks' thing), she responded "Wow, you're HUGE" then I said "Thanks, that's what I LOOOOOVE to hear" [sarcasm that she did not pick up on]. Seriously? Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I'm not a woman...no woman likes to hear "you're huge", also I'm not "HUGE"...I'm a normal size for 7 months! Well she wasn't done there, then she asks, "So, are you married?", I look at my wedding band and say "Yeah". What would she have done if I said "No, I'm not"? Some people... Anyway, take a look-see...

In other news, we finally registered. We went to Babies R Us, it took us 2 trips. So overwhelming! We decided only to register there, I also registered at Landofnod.com for the bedroom decor, but the most important stuff is at Babies R Us. We did our research and decided on the stuff we wanted ahead of time but even though we were "prepared" we were soooo not prepared. You just don't even know were to begin!

Well I guess that's all for now...wish me luck in my 3rd trimester...they say the Honeymoon phase of pregnancy is OVER, but I ask "when did it even begin!?!"

Nursery

The nursery is pretty much done. The furniture is in place, the bedding is laid out, the shelves are up...it's really come together nicely. The theme is dolls/doll dresses. I think it's adorable. The only thing i need is a rug for the middle of the floor. The floors are wood so I need something to tie the room together. I love going in there, so does Bella. I usually keep the door closed, and Bella (my dog) will sit at the door and whine. I think she sometimes needs her "baby Lily fix". I let her in and she walks around and sits by the crib. She's already acting like a little mamma herself. I think both my dogs know a baby is coming. They are so gentle with me and sweet. Bella rests her head on my tummy and I'm pretty sure she thinks it's her baby too. Since Bella can't have puppies I think she's looking forward to have this baby. I know they'll both be great with Lily because they are great with babies in general.

gestational diabetes = worst birthday gift

So today I had to take my 3hour test (since i didn't pass the 1hour test).  After 3 hours I was informed that I did not pass and I have gestational diabetes.  There are a number  of reasons this is disappointing.

1 - No one likes bad news on their bday!
2 - I've been really trying to stay healthy, I exercise 3 - 4 times
a week and I've kept my weight gain to a minimum (I've gained a total of 10lbs).  Normal/healthy weight gain would be 14 - 18lbs. I've tried  hard to keep my weight gain to a minimum so that diabetes wouldn't be an issue.
3 - I have to prick my finger 4 times a day for the rest of my pregnancy
4 - I have to chart my blood/sugar levels 4 times a day and report it to my doctor every visit.
5 - Super strict low carb/low sugar diet - isn't eating the fun part of pregnancy?

It's just an overall annoying thing.  The doctor said there is nothing I could have done to prevent it and that it's purely hormonal.  I was destined to get it :oP
The first 15 weeks were awful because of the terrible symptoms.  I thought I was in the clear and going to have a great rest of the way...now I'm totally bummed.  On a happy note I got a clear shot of Lily, she's gorgeous :o)

Lily @ 24 weeks

I did an ultrasound on myself (with help from mom). I really wanted to see Lily in 3D/4D so we gave it a shot. At 24 weeks babies are usually still pretty small, so I wasn't getting my hopes up that we would get any really good pictures. Also my placenta is in the front so it can be difficult to get a good image when you have to "see through" the placenta. Anyway, I think we got a pretty good shot considering her size and the whole "placenta in the way" issue. I think she's gorgeous, but that's just me. When I look at the pictures I have a hard time believing that she's IN THERE! I just can't believe that I'm already 24 weeks along, it feels like just the other day I was 4 weeks. Time sure flies!

This weekend I'm going to Houston on a "Girl's Trip" with Kathryn and Therese. One last outing before the baby comes. I'm really excited!!! We got a great deal on a hotel that's connected to the Galleria. Usually its $189 a night and we got it for $89 a night on Hotwire. I really can't wait to leave...only 3 more hours!

On Monday I have my glucose screening to see if I have gestational diabetes. Apparently it's a really annoying test. I have to fast, get there at 8, drink juice, wait an hour, then they prick my finger. I can handle needles and getting my blood drawn and all that, but the finger prick is my worst nightmare. I'll make sure to update the blog with my results.

So far Lily is doing well, she loves to swim around in my tummy and give me good hard kicks and punches, mostly to the bladder! She's active in the morning when I wake up, after lunch, and when I lay down to go to bed. I love her personality so much! I wonder what she thinks about and what she dreams about. I wonder what she must feel when I'm in the pool at water aerobics. I can't wait to meet her.

Haven't written in a while....

So here's what's new in a nutshell

- I'm 22 weeks today and I'm showing...See the picture!  Crazy.  I'm not even sure when it happened it just popped out one day.  I don't normally wear all black tight clothes, i was wearing a shirt dress and when i took it off and saw myself in the mirror i thought "i've got to take a picture of this!"

- I had a terrible leg cramp.  Terrible doesn't even describe it...it was traumatic.  I couldn't straighten my leg and my whole calf muscle was in a ball.  It took like 15 minutes to rub it out.  I'm literally traumatized,  I don't want to go to sleep from fear that it will happen again!

- I'm doing water aerobics and I really like it.  Jill and I go on Thursdays (she's my pregnant friend who is 2 weeks ahead of me).  I think Lily likes it too :o)  I still go to the gym on Mondays and Wednesdays too.  Gotta stay active so Lily can be strong too!

- Speaking of "strong Lily", I can feel her move now.  At first it was just a little, but now it's often.  A couple of times it's been a little uncomfortable and i think to myself "ok, ok, i don't want her to move anymore"...but she does :o)

- Went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago.  They confirmed it was a girl, said everything looked good, and as of 2 weeks ago the total weight gain was 6.5 lbs.  From now on I should gain 1lb. a week.  That should put me at about 26.5 lbs total at the end of my pregnancy, which is normal.  Let's hope I can stay on track!

Ok so that's all for now.
